How much will a demand letter cost me?
I'm considering the "threat/demand letter" route with my ex-employer who as gone silent on my final commission check. I resigned on basically neutral terms, but this company has a solid reputation for refusing to do the right thing. I'm seeking approximately $600. Is it worth my time to hire an attorney? Or should I just file a complaint with the Department of Labor and become a nuisance? I've asked twice in writing with no response. I live in Oklahoma and I thank you in advance.

- File with the department of Labour or in Small Claims Court. The demand letter will cost about $50, and it's wasted money at this stage.
- First, you must have a very solid evidence regarding your employers refusal to give your "final commission check." Second, write your former employeer a demand letter with return card, and demand what is due you. You cannot sue someone without first making a demand letter. State in you letter that you will forward your complaint to the Department of Labor. I would suggest Department of Labor more than a private lawyer. Good luck!
