My lawyer says I need to send a demand to a credit card company that's reporting false information?
He's not my lawyer for this matter, but told me I need to send a demand to my credit card company for reporting false information to the credit bureaus. I have already disputed it without success. What is a demand letter? Where could I find a copy of one?

- To have any effect, this needs to come from a lawyer. However, if you've already disputed it, the credit card company has already satisfied themselves that the charge is legitimate, so it's unlikely the demand will do anything. It's more a formality before launching a lawsuit.
- Make sure you make copies and date it. Faxes are always good(keep copy of confirmation page) Get an attorney to send them a letter. This is likely the only way they will take you serious. Everything you send them keep a copy of, so that way in worst case scenario you are armed for bear when it comes court time. They can dispute with you , but facts are facts and the judge will side with you. If it has caused adverse affects/like costing you interest, you can demand compansation.
- A demand letter simply states the information they have reported that is incorrect and demands that it be corrected. There is no set form that this has to take, just something along the lines of Dear Credit Card Company; You have made the following false report on my credit record dated...... and stating........Demand is hereby made pursuant to the law of this state that you correct your false statements within thirty days of receipt of this demand. Failure to comply will result in this matter being referred to the proper authorities for legal action against you. Your Signature.
