When local police try to deal with criminals who are also illegal, they face federal investigations for abusing the "rights" of illegals. There are such accusations against Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio and similarly, against Sheriff Daron Hall, Davidson County, Tenn. "Guest worker programs" – sounds good until it's a way for employers to hire at lower wages than Americans need, thus driving wages down for everyone. "Bringing 11 million people out of the shadows" means amnesty. It's a pat-phrase for giving citizenship to people who broke the law to be here. The 11 million figure is low. Estimates are upward of 20-30 million illegals here now. If this law passes, several million more would rush here to be swept in before the effective date. There is no consideration of how states would deal with the influx of "legal" demands on their infrastructure, economy and budgets. 1. Bottom line. It will bankrupt us to arrest and deport millions of people who will just walk back over. And if we force companies not to hire the millions of people already here, they will have no source of income and will probably turn to crime. Amnesty would be an insult to legal immigrants, but Guest Worker Programs are the best compromise I've heard.
2. It's more cost effective to have an amnesty for illegals. Rather than wasting money paying Immigration officers to track down the handful of illegals out there, they should be welcomed, so they can get legal jobs, and pay the relevant taxes, turning a financial deficit into a positive. They should also sign a form agreeing to abide by the law at all times, under threat of revocation of residence and deportation back to their original country.
3. Amnesty, and illegal immigration, will hasten the demise of the US. Harsh measures would be needed to stop this unarmed invasion at the border, and those here illegally, and those that hire them, could be identified and punished/deported accordingly. It won't happen, the majority of citizens won't realize the danger until it's too late. We have already lost the SW part of the US to these parasites and most don't even know it yet.
4. how can an amnesty be more cost effective, they say it will take 90 million to deport them, they cost us 330 billion a year. do not know where they went to school but that does not add up to an amnesty to me. Thankfully people like Sheriff Joe is putting thee illegal aliens criminals in the spotlight, he is letting us know what others around this country are not, that is why they dislike him so. I speak to citizens everyday who have no idea how bad it really is and are shocked when I give them the facts. I started something new on my own, by calling people in my community and informing them of what is going on in my state, in the U.S. and with our government that does not want to protect us. I just picked up the phone book and started with a few people I know and have went to other names in the book.
5. And another question about immigration and the same uneducated people spreading populism about how illegal immigration cost us - $300 billion a year?? Go back to school or maybe no, dont go there because you wasted my tax money being there already and as we see no results - still no intelligence at all, just ignorance.
