Debt Collection Process

what if i don't pay the LDC collection agency for a street cleaning parking fine on 2004?

wasn't there a law that all debts are wiped after 5 years? I know I wrote a check and paid that fine many years ago, but I have no copy of the check that was processed though. and I did not make a delivery confirmation letter. I'm not sure what to do.. the car had been sold a few years back. the car was sold after the ticket btw.

1. just go to your bank and get a copy of the cancelled check they keep them for a long time and even if they don't have it , they will have a record of it being cashed If not then pay it again or there will be a lot of interest and one day you will be pulled over for something and arrested for unpaid fines ( really expensive) :(
